Using transparent extender base with metallic inks

Metallic inks are semi-opaque and can be used on both dark and light fabrics. They can also be mixed with Transparent Extender Base to create a semi-sheer effect The ratio of ink to extender base can be varied and you can build up layers of semi-sheer metallic ink to create glowing results.

The metallic inks can cause some stiffness in the fabric because they sit on the surface of the fabric. Adding extender base will reduce this effect. However, if the drape of the fabric is important, you might prefer transparent inks as they sink into the fibres and cause less stiffness.
